Curriculum

Together with their peers and an amazing team of volunteers, JA Fellows develop and hone vital skills that will assist them wherever their aspirations may take them.

  • Skills Training — We expose students to the communication and success skills that will enable them to excel wherever life may take them. Our 9th and 10th grade students will engage in a course of either JA Financial Literacy or JA Success Skills, while our 11th and 12th grade students will take JA Business Ethics or JA Careers with a Purpose. Each program component alternates between years to ensure that our JA Fellows will continually be exposed to different programs throughout their tenure.
  • Entrepreneurship & The Free Enterprise System — In the Entrepreneurship phase, students apply their recently acquired success skills to their own student-run, financed, and governed companies. They elect officers, issue stock, market a product, distribute dividends, and even issue an annual report. This is also where students learn basic tenets of economics. This is also where you get a chance to make money and keep the profits!
  • Business Simulation & Competition — The program concludes with JA Titan, an online business simulation in which students utilize technology to make macro business decisions and compete against each other. This is also the time when students prepare for the numerous competitions at the annual JA Fellows Expo, as well as further national & international competitions.
  • High Profile Job Shadow — Students spend a day with an accomplished business person from a profession of interest to them. This is truly one of the defining moments for many of our JA Fellows, as we make full use of the myriad of connections available to us through Junior Achievement of Georgia. For a partial list of past job shadows, click here.
  • Saturday Speaker Series — Leaders from prominent organizations within the Atlanta community speak to JA Fellows members on a host of topics, including but not limited to business ethics, etiquette & professional conduct, diversity & globalization, as well as financial aid and the college application process.
  • Access to Additional Events — JA Fellows have unrivaled access to a plethora of additional opportunities. Some of the recent events our Fellows have participated in include: The JA of Georgia Business Hall of Fame (black-tie fundraiser at The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead), The Georgia Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner & Meeting, tickets to the Atlanta Falcons, Hawks & Thrashers, ushering shows at The Fox Theatre, Grandstand seats at The Atlanta Motor Speedway, & too many more to list!!!
